Deadpool Review: 9 Ups And 7 Downs You Need To Know

Ups...

9. That Awesome Opening Credits Sequence

The insane car crash we all remember so well from the "leaked" test footage (and later, from the trailer) gets frozen in the slowest of motion for the opening credit sequence, as we're treated to hilarious takes on all of the people involved in making the film in lieu of any actual names. From 'Directed by Some Overpaid Tool' to 'Featuring a British Villain', every credit gets big laughs - especially the huge dig at 20th Century Fox with 'Produced by Asshats'. It's all a well-placed jab at not only the tenets of blockbuster filmmaking ('Comedy Relief' and 'Hot Chick' get a mention) but also the formulaic conventions of superhero movies (look out for 'Gratuitous Cameo'). Of course, it's all wonderfully played against the slow motion hilarity of the chaos unfolding in the SUV tumbling along the freeway, as Deadpool has his crotch in some poor henchman's face whilst give a wedgie to another guy tumbling out of the window. Evidently, Tim Miller thinks 'Time in a Bottle' can go f*ck itself.
