Disney & Bruckheimer pick up Jihadists

112256__jerry_bruckheimer_l.jpgThe Pirates of the Caribbean team of Disney and producer Jerry Bruckheimer are teaming up once again to bring us Jihadists in Paradise. Based on an article written by Mark Bowden in March's Atlantic Monthly issue, the deal will also see Bruckheimer re-team with Bowden, as the two worked together on Black Hawk Down. More info from Coming Soon... Jihadists in Paradise details the emergence in the Philippines of the Islamic terrorist faction Abu Sayyaf and one of its leaders, Aldam Tilao. Tilao put his group on the map by sneaking by boat into a diving resort and taking 20 hostages, including three Americans. He and his armed thugs beheaded one of the Americans and dragged the other two -- a missionary couple -- across the jungles for a year and a half. Very powerful subject matter here and if handled with the same precision for detail of the historic event as Black Hawk Down, then it could well end up being a must see movie. No cast or director attached as of yet. source - coming soon, variety
