The Marvel Cinematic Universe is set to take a mystical turn when Doctor Strange arrives in the franchise in November 2016, looking like Benedict Cumberbatch with a beard (probably). The Sorcerer Supreme is one of the most enduring and beloved characters from the comic books, but it seemed very unlikely that he would fit into the MCU when it first started with the comparatively grounded nature of Iron Man in 2008. Weirdness has since arrived in abundance in the franchise, with the likes of demi-gods, men out of time, talking raccoons, walking trees and shrinking men having made their presences felt - and the next step is to introduce the world of magic. Even with all the aforementioned weirdness already existing in the MCU, it may seem that introducing a man who - in the comics at least - can cast spells, invoke the assistance of deities and demons, travel between dimensions and project his consciousness onto another plane is coming out of the blue, but that's not the case at all.
