Does “Back To The Future” Stand The Test Of Time?

Time Travel And Debates In Your Living Room

Back to the Future Not only did this movie introduce me to Huey Lewis and the News but it also introduced me to the idea of Time Travel. As a 12 year old in the early 90€™s any conversations I had about the possibility of time travel(Which were frequent!) did not come from a close reading of Einstein or Hawking but from whatever I could remember Dr. Emmett Brown saying. Any and all thoughts on the Time Space Continuum came straight from the Doc and Back To The Future. Now, I have done some (Not a lot) of research on BTTF€™s theory of time travel. Zemeckis and Gale, first of all deserve a lot of credit for trying to play with an idea like this, chose to focus on a €œtraditional view€ of time travel or general relativity. Now, I€™m going to cop out and say that this is not the place for this conversation. But, the question we do need to answer is, does their story of time travel hold up? I think so. It rests comfortably in an already flawed theory and obeys the rules that Zemeckis and Gale create. It€™s fun and moves the story along well. So well in fact that in college I was able to B.S. my way to B+ on a philosophy essay. True story.
