Emma Stone To Star in Cameron Crowe's Next?

The Amazing Spider-Man actress boards the untitled next project from the Almost Famous & We Bought A Zoo helmer.

After the fairly quiet success of the quaint and breezy We Bought A Zoo, firmly displacing any memories anyone might have had of Elizabethtown, it seems that renewed interest in Cameron Crowe is being ignited once again with news coming from Deadline that Sony have just closed a deal for an untitled love story written by Crowe with Emma Stone set to star in the lead role, with Crowe also serving a director. Details on the project are scarce at the moment but according to Deadline, it seems that the project features a tone reminiscent of that of Crowe's earlier works such as Jerry Maguire and Almost Famous. The search is currently on for the male lead, no doubt someone who can exchange affable witty banter with Stone in a no doubt charming and delightful way. But thanks to the wonderful world of the twitter-sphere, it seems that we may have a clue to what the project may be with a tweet coming from Variety's Jeff Sneider, mentioning Crowe's recent rewrite of his script for Deep Tiki, which was originally set to star the likes of Ben Stiller and Reese Witherspoon before ending up gathering dust on some executive's shelf somewhere. But then again, this could all be conjecture and rumor of course as so many things in Hollywood are. Deep Tiki was to see Stiller play a guy who hits a near mid-life crisis, takes a trip to Hawaii where he encounters problems with an old flame and a new woman in his life. You can read the script leak plot details HERE which also carries details of the film€™s soundtrack. After the mild success that was We Bought a Zoo, it would be great to see Crowe get back to the style and edginess of his earlier works and the casting of Emma Stone indicates that he is well on the right track. His style and her comic ability suggest that Stone is a perfect fit for Crowe's style, so obvious in fact that you think it a complete mystery as to why it hasn't been done before. Emma Stone was last seen in The Amazing Spider-Man and will next be seen in the recently delayed Gangster Squad, now set for release early next year.
