Eurovision Song Contest: The Story Of Fire Saga Review: 4 Ups & 6 Downs

A bloated Netflix dud.

Roughly a month after the planned 2020 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest was set to go ahead, Netflix has dropped their answer for anyone missing their annual dose of euro-centric cheese: a Hollywood comedy co-starring Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams as small-town Icelandic musicians hoping to win the contest.

Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga certainly isn't the worst comedy premise Ferrell has ever attached himself to, though this painfully mediocre, bafflingly overlong effort from director David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers) never amounts to anything more than faintly amusing.

Sure, it might provide some brainless comfort during these stressful times, but given the sheer amount of talent that showed up for this thing, that the script - co-written by Ferrell, no less - is so wafer-thin is tremendously disappointing, if not terribly surprising.

With so many quality Netflix Originals to choose from as of late, you've got far more appealing viewing options available to you, because despite the inviting weirdness of the set-up, this is as base and lazy as the marketing suggested...
