On paper, the idea of Woody Harrelson starring as a lonely, neurotic and hilariously honest middle-aged misanthrope seemed like a great one, and his performance is one of the best parts of Wilson but the adaptation of Daniel Clowes' graphic novel is undercooked and a little wrong-headed.

The key with films like this is making sure the central curmudgeons remains relatable rather than just oddities, or they end up grating too much, and unfortunately that's where Wilson falls down. While Harrelson's performance starts well enough, the story around him isn't there and he ends up being irritating.

It's nowhere near as good as Clowes' Ghost World, and there's definitely some suspicion that the graphic novel is the superior experience.
