Every George A Romero Movie Ranked Worst To Best

15. Survival Of The Dead

Released in 2009, Survival was Romero’s directorial swan song and it’s easily the weakest of the six Living Dead films he directed (yet still preferable to any of the rip-offs made by other hands).

After resetting the zombie chronology in Diary Of The Dead and leaving the characters in a precarious position at the end of the film, Survival mostly ignores them and concentrates instead on a feud that just happens to include zombies. On an island off the coast of Delaware, two families argue over whether the best approach to the zombie outbreak is to destroy their undead relatives or wait for a cure.

Not much of Romero’s trademark wit on display here, and without his usual social commentary Survival is the Living Dead film that you won’t watch more than once.
