Now that 2017 has come to a close for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's time to start looking ahead to all that is to come in 2018. This past year was easily the biggest year yet in terms of content output for the ever-popular franchise, but the year ahead of us is going to be even bigger thanks to the release of three films and the airing of at least seven shows across ABC, Hulu, Freeform, and Netflix.

From further episodes of the current seasons of Runaways and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to the debuts of the New Warriors and Cloak & Dagger to more adventures with the heroes of Netflix to a sequel, a solo outing, and a massive event film fans have been waiting for years to see, it's almost overwhelming just how much there is to look forward to as a fan of the MCU.

So with all of it looming on the horizon, let's take the opportunity now to sort through everything that's been confirmed to release in 2018, assessing what each project is bringing to the table that's worth getting excited for and why, though - as always - be warned, for major spoilers lay ahead...

10. New Warriors: Season 1

Avengers Infinity War Justice League
Marvel

Of all the projects on this list, the first season of New Warriors is the only thing currently in a bit of a limbo. According to THR, its pilot was a huge success in the eyes of executives, but thanks to a packed schedule on Freeform - where it was originally planned to air - the show had to be kicked back, forcing Marvel to shop it around so that it can find a home and still air in 2018.

Where it's going to land is anyone's guess for now, but the mere fact it even exists is something to get excited about. In terms of plot, all we have is vague: A group of superpowered individuals come together to form the New Warriors, their own Avengers-esque group, albeit on a much smaller scale. But considering the group has been around in comics for nearly three decades now, there's a wealth of material to be mined for the season's full narrative.

Despite that lack of story specifics, we do know the roster we'll be seeing and who will be playing them, with Milana Vayntrub starring as Squirrel Girl, Derek Tholer as Mister Immortal, Jeremy Tardy as Night Thrasher, Matthew Moy as Microbe, Kate Comer as Debrii, and Calum Worthy as Speedball, while the show itself is being run by Scrubs vet and Cougar Town co-creator Kevin Biegel. Just by virtue of its cast of characters, New Warriors has every opportunity to be an absolute blast, and hopefully fans learn sooner than later where it's ending up so we can start marking our calendars for its premiere.
