Every X-Men Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

9. X-Men: The Last Stand

A lot of people have spent an awful lot of time attempting to convince people that X-Men: The Last Stand is the worst thing that's ever happened to the X-Men franchise. Unfortunately, thanks to its proximity to X2, it was critically mauled with the kind of stinging hyperbole that tends to leave a permanent mark.

The truth is that The Last Stand is a series of great ideas cobbled together in mostly poor fashion. It features a series high performance by Sir Ian McKellen as Magneto, great work by Famke Janssen as Dark Phoenix and a couple of astonishing set pieces that delivered on the need for greater spectacle.

Unfortunately, fans will inevitably remember Vinnie Jones' Juggernaut, or the diabolical "youngface" CGI work on Sir Patrick Stewart in the flashback sequence rather than acknowledging the better beats, and that is a disservice.

Could it have been better? Undoubtedly, but it's still a damn sight more entertaining than watching Wolverine mope around Japan.
