Exclusive: G.I. Joe: Retaliation Actor DJ Cotrona Wants DMZ Adaptation

dj cotrona matty roth Whilst meeting the cast of G.I Joe: Retaliation I managed to get a quick interview with DJ Cotrona who plays Flint in the movie and ask him a few questions. The star, who a few years back was actually cast to play Superman in George Miller€™s ultimately ill-fated Justice League of America movie, opened up to us that he would like to play Matty Roth if there was ever a film adaptation of the comic DMZ. DJ enthusiastically thought on my question before choosing the lead protagonist from the comic book which has been running since 2005. When looking at DJ and comparing him to the artwork of the character by series creator Brian Wood, the resemblance is really strong. The character of Matty Roth begins the series as photographer for Liberty News Network before soon finding himself stranded in the DMZ and facing all manner of struggles. DJ also spoke to us about his disappointment over the Justice League movie never happening. Unfortunately a combination of the 2007-2008 Writers Guild of America Strike and a negative online response to how the film was being put together caused the movie to be put on indefinite hold. In the video below of our interview on the red carpet Cotrona expresses how good he thought the movie was shaping up to be before it fell apart. Without the needed work on the script Warner allowed the Superhero team up movie to fall into development hell and that version is entirely unrelated to the version that is currently being worked on. Interestingly DJ€™s G.I Joe co-star Adrianne Palicki was also nearly a member of the Justice League of America, but was instead in a TV version which didn€™t get commissioned beyond a pilot episode. See DJ discuss comic characters and being an action star below. http://youtu.be/JmVym9itedw
