Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them news has been coming thick and fast these last few weeks. Along with the first hi-res images of Eddie Redmayne as Magizoologist and author Newt Scamander being released, Warner Brothers have started to tease us with some bits of information about the North American Wizarding community. Excitement among Harry Potter fans has become increasingly palpable with each revelation about the eagerly anticipated spin-off, and when you're dealing with a series like this "fan" means pretty much everyone. Rowlings original series and the films that followed were nothing short of a global phenomenon, bringing a world hidden all around us to life with some truly memorable characters. Can we expect to see any of our old favourites one last time in Fantastic Beasts? Given that the film takes place in the Roaring Twenties, the prospect seems a slim one, but this is magic were talking about. There are a handful of Harry Potter characters that were actually alive and well back then, and the arguments for their inclusion go beyond pacifying the fans. Here are nine Harry Potter characters, from the books and wider Potter world, that could (and should) cameo in Fantastic Beasts...
8. Albus Dumbledore
Born in the Wizarding village of Mould-on-the-Wold, England, in the summer of 1881, Albus Dumbledore went on to live for a whopping 115 years before he had Severus Snape kill him as part of his elaborate plan to bring down Voldemort. Considering that the film is to take place in 1926, it stands to reason that a 45-year-old Dumbledore could have some part to play in Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, and we may well see a side to him that we have never seen before; a far less friendly side. Dumbledore's youth has been marred with rumours of dark magic and sympathy for the anti-Muggle movement, something that seems unthinkable when you recall the man that Harry Potter knew, though there is no smoke without fire, even in the world of magic. After his sister Ariana was caught practising her magic by three Muggle boys, the young Witch was attacked by the non-magic children, leaving her physically and mentally scarred and unable to perform her magic properly for the rest of her life. Dumbledore's father, Percival, was banged up in Azkaban after carrying out a revenge attack against the hapless Muggles, leaving young Albus bitter and without a father figure. Seeing Dumbledore in this light would undoubtedly be interesting, though perhaps hard to swallow for some fans. He did plan to travel the Wizarding world after he left Hogwarts, which seems like it could be the perfect chance to have him run into Newt in New York City. Sadly it didn't eventually happen, but we know the movies aren't afraid of diverging from the books.
