After some furious speculation, Straight Outta Compton's F Gary Gray has been confirmed to direct the eighth addition to the Fast & Furious franchise. How odd those words would have all sounded together 8 years ago... The hot talent - who is apparently also under consideration for Marvel's Black Panther in 2018 - apparently beat The Signals Will Eubank, The Guests Adam Wingard and Louis Leterrier, as well as killing rumours that Vin Diesel wanted either Rob Cohen or himself to direct. Just two days after Diesel posted on Facebook that he has met with the director (but not cut a deal), Gary Gray took to Twitter to confirm his official hiring: https://twitter.com/FGaryGray/status/652181877587992576?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw The film will hit cinemas in April 2017, with Diesel returning alongside Dwayne Johnson, Ludacris and Tyrese Gibson. Furious 7's Jason Statham and Kurt Russell should also boost the cast, with new characters expected to join Torretto's crew. It will kick off a new trilogy and will be set in New York City. Expect cars. And terrible dialogue that nobody notices because everything is so muscular and fast paced. Oh, and attitude. Are you excited by this hiring news?
