First Godzilla Trailer With The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug?

1378714 10151736413802865 813980236 N Godzilla has been something of an enigma in film for the past several years. Ever since Roland Emmerich's American take on the famous Japanese monster fans, critics, and others have been anxiously awaiting the return of Godzilla and all his glory. With Emmerich's film ending on a high note, which didn't get a film sequel but a continuation in the form of a short-lived cartoon series, the chances for Godzilla making a comeback anytime soon were instantly dashed. Not to mention the fans weren't too happy with the American take on Japan's most beloved monster. Fortunately for those who were eager to see Godzilla return, film production for a reboot have been stirring since 2009 and officially surfaced in 2012, with a planned release date of May 16th, 2014. To make matters interesting, artwork of Godzilla was confirmed at the 2010 Comic-Con, reeling fans and anchoring the anticipation for the next few years. Comic-Con 2013 presented more of Godzilla himself, literally, with a showing that revealed interactive footage and a setting with the ominous feeling of destruction laid down by Godzilla. Footage was also exclusively revealed to the audience who attended, and any hopes of a trailer slipping out were shot down. Until now, that is. Oleg Gaiko, or @movie_maniac on Twitter, released a tweet detailing the possible reveal of the first official Godzilla trailer for 2014. He tweeted the following: Screen Shot 2013 11 11 At 12 27 08 Am Now of course this tweet should be taken with a grain of salt. Although not confirmed from Warner Bros., there's a high level of curiousness to Gaiko's tweet. How he came across this information is anyone's guess, but it stands as a possible lead for the initial revealing of the Godzilla trailer. It does, however, make sense to show the first trailer in front of The Desolation of Smaug, as it is 2013's final big theatrical release of the year. It would make for a great attention grabber, and an even greater sneak peek at what's to come of 2014 in terms of filmmaking. We already know the first trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be appearing, and having the world's most famous monster marking his grand debut (debuting in front of a film that revolves around a dragon, of all things) before next year starts would make for one hell of a theatre moment. What do you guys think? Do you believe Oleg Gaiko's tweet? Does it ultimately make sense to showcase Godzilla before the end of 2013? Discuss away!
