First Look Teaser Trailer For Tarsem's IMMORTALS Gives Feeling It's A 300 Sequel

E! News unveiled a first look at the teaser trailer for Tarsem Singh's Immortals last night and I can't help but feel that I've been duped and sold down the river. Originally promised to be a 'Caravaggio' inspired action movie which would be as beautiful as an oil painting, the 3D Greek mythology themed fantasy film instead looks like a direct sequel to Zack Snyder's 300 and barely any leap up in picture quality. The slow motion fight scenes are present, the narrative looks to be carried out in much of the same fashion (i.e. a muscle soldier barking out orders & emotional speeches, along with historically researched battle formations), the same kind of bronze colour scheme, the over-the-top costumes - everything feels like 300. Having said that, I would be unwise to fully critique the film on the quality of a trailer bootlegged in this fashion, so for now just think of it as a sign of what is to come. And even then, because 300 made over $200 million domestically, we can't be overly surprised Relativity Media have chosen to market the movie in this fashion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkY2HOcpRmg Henry Cavill in his big pre-Superman role leads as Theseus, Stephen Dorff is his sidekick Stavros, Freida Pinto is the love interest, Mickey Rourke is King Hyperion, Kellan Lutz is Poseidon, Luke Evans is Zeus, John Hurt is the older Zeus and Isabel Lucas is Athena. Great cast. The movie is due in November.
