If you've been keeping track of Tom Hardy's career, you'll know he's a master of transformation. He's gained and lost significant weight and muscle, he's adopted accents (both legible and otherwise) and he's occasionally looked completely unrecognisable for roles. And on that last front, he's just about peaking with Josh Trank's upcoming Al Capone biopic Fonzo.

Hardy plays the notorious mob man and a new picture of him in costume has emerged that is once more stunning. The image was originally shared by Fandango...

It's really quite incredible. Hardy is definitely going to be bringing a powerhouse performance to Trank's biopic and it's quickly becoming one of the most anticipated upcoming performances of the next few years.

Here's the synopsis:

"Once a ruthless businessman and bootlegger who ruled Chicago with an iron fist, Alfonse Capone was the most infamous and feared gangster of American lore. At the age of 47, following nearly a decade of imprisonment, dementia rots Alfonse's mind and his past becomes present as harrowing memories of his violent and brutal origins melt into his waking life."

It's a hell of a look. Anyone else think he'd make an excellent Penguin now?

Josh Trank and Tom Hardy have both previously showed off some behind-the-scenes looks at Hardy as Capone from the set and make-up chair...

He's definitely got the menacing gangster look nailed down. But then this isn't the first time he's played a legendary figure from the world of organised crime - he played both Reggie and Ronnie Kray in Legend not so long ago. So he's got the experience there too.

This one definitely looks like a winner.
