George Clooney to star in White Jazz

stars-george-clooney.jpgVariety are reporting that George Clooney has signed on to appear as a dirty LAPD cop who gets framed for murder by his corrupt bossess in the film White Jazz. The movie is an adaptation of the James Ellroy novel, written as a sequel to his earlier work L.A. Confidential, which I don't think I need to remind you has already been adapted into an amazing film. We reported last month that director Joe Carnahan claimed that he had already cast a big name for the film that would "blow us away" and if this is who he meant then boy he wasn't kidding. Clooney is a terrific actor, who is on top of his game right now and this project has suddenly become one to really keep an eye on. Production is not expected to begin unfortunately for another year as both Clooney and Carnahan have busy schedules for 2007, so don't expect to see this film for a good two years at least. In other news... It's also been annouced that Clooney has committed himself to direct the heist movie The Belmont Boys. The film follows seven thieves who reunite to pull off the job of a lifetime that they had already started 30 years ago. Production is not expected on that film until after White Jazz is completed. source - variety, coming soon
