Ghost Rider breaks records

g.jpgSony's decision to release Ghost Rider on the President's Day 4 Day Weekend looks at this early stage, to have paid off very nicely indeed. One of the lesser known Marvel characters to get a feature has managed to amass a record breaking $44.5 million over the weekend, more than any movie on this date in history. It's also Nicolas Cage's biggest opening of his career and strangely comes at a time when he is being the most criticised by critics and audiences alike. Disney's dark fantasy tale Bridge to Terabithia did good numbers coming in at second with $22 million whilst the Hugh Grant/Drew Barrymore romantic comedy Music & Lyrics disappoints with it's $14 million opening, and fourth place in the charts compared to it's #1 opening in the U.K. a few weeks back.
