Ghost Rider on course for huge opening weekend

ottsunent200.jpgWell looks like I just fell flat on my face. After predicting yesterday that the presence of Nicolas Cage may put people off from seeing the movie, early box office figures indicate that Ghost Rider could be on hand for a really big opening this weekend. The Marvel Superhero movie made $15.9 million on it's opening DAY of release on Friday and if it holds up well it could even surpass the current record of $45.1 million for a President's Day weekend new release. It's definitely on course to be Nicolas Cage's biggest opening of his career, surpassing his previous best opener National Treasure that made $35 million on it's first weekend of release and subsequently was the catalyst for a sequel which should be in cinema's by the end of the year. If history tells us anything, a Ghost Rider 2 may just be a formality. Come back either tonight or tomorrow morning to find out exactly how much Ghost Rider made and we will of course have our usual break down of the box office top ten. source - coming soon, showBIZ data
