Greatest Movie Scenes #38 - 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY

Danny Boyle's new movie Sunshine without thinking of the Stanley Kubrick classic 2001: A Space Odyssey. The visuals Boyle uses are as innovative and as visually spectacular as anything I've seen in the science fiction genre since Kubrick's masterpiece. So I thought it would be fitting to upload a scene from 2001, although the clip below has no real comparison with Boyle's film... it's just my favourite bit. I've said before, I can't connect with Kubrick's films (except for The Shining, his most un-Kubrick movie) and although I can appreciate the genius at work and his stellar film-making skills..... I find his movies rather tedious and cold. Lacking a little humanity shall we say at times. There's no doubt though he was a visonary of this craft, and there won't be many that come along that have a career as diverse and cinematically significant as he.
