Greg MacLean And James Gunn Teaming Up For The Belco Experiment

From Wolf Creek and Guardians Of The Galaxy directors respectively.

Belco Experiment James Gunn has solid horror credentials. Indeed, nine years ago today, his debut film as director was released, and in that time, Slither has firmly established itself as a cult favourite. I say "in that time." It took about an hour. As if to mark the birthday, Gunn took to Facebook today and announced that his screenplay The Belco Experiment is going into production with director Greg MacLean. "The story revolves around the American Belco company in South America which is mysteriously sealed off at the beginning of a work day," Gunn explained, "and its employees are ordered to kill each other or be killed themselves. This starts an escalation of violence, where we discover the true nature of each and every Belco employee." Eesh. Thankfully, Gunn promises "heart and humor" alongside the uncompromising, uncomfortable stuff. MacLean does seem like a good pick, as he's not quite the same sensibility as Gunn, as much as they might overlap. Meanwhile, Gunn continues work on Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and MacLean keeps the back of his mind busy cooking up both a new Wolf Creek TV series and a third movie too.
