Halloween: 8 Things We Need In The Next Film

7. Carpenter On The Score

John Carpenter's work on Halloween 2018 made sure to remind everyone that his classic score is iconic for a reason: when utilized correctly, it's downright bone-chilling.

After decades of the score being misused and poorly handled in the various sequels and remakes, Carpenter returned to the franchise he started to show everyone how it's really done. The new soundtrack was absolutely tremendous, with Carpenter's new score that he crafted alongside Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies being an incredible piece of work in its own right.

The next Halloween film will have to avoid a great many pitfalls that the original sequels fell into, but the musical rut is arguably one of the most crucial. Getting anybody else other than Carpenter and his team would be ludicrous, especially considering how game the filmmaker/composer has been throughout the entire marketing process. Carpenter is also evidently enthused by the prospect of a sequel. Speaking to Collider, the composer said that he "would partner with Jason (Blum) anytime. I mean that. I think he’s really good and smart."

After going so long without Carpenter's involvement, the franchise should absolutely look to retain his services from here on in, as both a writer and composer. The franchise just isn't the same without his touch.
