Harry Potter: Ranking Every Movie Ending From Worst To Best

Is the end of The Deathly Hallows Part 2 really the best Harry Potter finale?

All eight of the Harry Potter films were solid adaptations. Whilst some were certainly better than others, it’s almost unheard of to have an eight-film franchise in which every entry is good.

Though every entry in the series had plenty of new and exclusive elements to it, the finales of these eight films were consistently action packed. Even the earlier films in the franchise – which were more for children than adults – had plenty of conflict and intensity at the end.

As fun as it was to experience these finales, many of them also contained some incredibly sad moments as well. Indeed, every film after The Prisoner of Azkaban featured at least one major fatality, and the second part of The Deathly Hallows featured many significant deaths.

Consequently, the closing stages of the Harry Potter movies always left a lasting impression upon the audience. Even those who had read the books beforehand managed to get plenty of enjoyment out of them owing to the performances, the music, and the overall spectacle of these climactic scenes.

As such, even the weaker Harry Potter finales were always entertaining…

It’s a testament to how good the Harry Potter movies are that even the worst finale has plenty of emotional weight behind it.

Dobby’s death is one of the saddest moments in the entire series. Seeing such an innocent and sweet soul meet his end at the hands of Bellatrix is hard to watch. Indeed, the movie is actually more emotionally devastating than the source material.

As powerful as the ending of the film is, the conflict at Malfoy Manor is a little underwhelming. The duel between Harry and Ron and the Death Eaters feels rather lacklustre when compared to some of the other duels in the series.

However, the true finale of The Deathly Hallows is of course the end of Part 2, so it wouldn’t have made much sense to have had an epic battle at the end of Part 1 as well.

Still, despite how powerful Dobby’s death is, the finale of The Deathly Hallows Part 1 is definitely the weakest in the franchise.
