HELLRAISER & TRAILER TRASH delayed till 2009

Bloody Disgusting have word on two upcoming Dimension Film horror projects which have suffered a delay, probably because of the ongoing writers strike. First up there's HELLRAISER, the unnecessary remake of the Clive Barker creepy 80's movie has been bumped to a currently undisclosed 2009 release. Previously the movie which is being written and will be directed by French duo Julien Mary and Alexandre Bustillo from an original Barker draft was set to open around September/October time this year.

The next victim is Eli Roth's mash-up of short GRINDHOUSE style trailers with the utterly crazy idea that is TRAILER TRASH. I think this one was pretty obvious to be axed as a strike victim because it will probably be shot on a very lax script, with the several directors that Roth hires likely to be ad-libbing on set and bringing their own ideas to the table once there. TRAILER TRASH has also been moved to a uncertain 2009 release date, marking the second film post-HOSTEL: PART II that Roth has failed to get off the ground before the strike. That other one being the adaptation of the Stephen King novel CELL. Though with the recent deal the Weinsteins made for Dimension to be allowed to work on scripts, it might not be all that long until either of these projects get underway once again.
