Hot Fuzz director talks future plans

Home1.jpgEdgar Wright, who after the great job he did with Hot Fuzz has now become someone I'm going to sit up and take more notice of in the future, has spoke a little about his future plans to IGN, including a confirmation about him re-teaming with Simon Pegg. His next feature is set to be Them, which Variety have described as being a "conspiracy comedy about one woman's journey to unmask the secret rulers of the world". No cast have been signed up as yet, and strangely IMDB report the movie as being "completed" but that has to be a mistake as Wright tells IGN that he has only begun working with co-script writer Mike White (who should be shot after writing Nacho Libre) just recently. After Them, Wright is penciled in to helm two of the more lesser known comic book characters, Marvel's Ant Man and Oni Press' Scott Pilgrim. Wright told IGN... "Ant Man is in a bit of a holding pattern. We're figuring things out with the script and we haven't initiated casting. We still have quite a bit to do. I expect I'll have more to say about it in a few months. I'm also going to be working with Sean O'Malley on Scott Pilgrim. It's incredibly exciting because I'm such an admirer of his work. We haven't really started on this yet. We've traded some ideas, so again it's very much all in an early formative stage." But the best news of all, is that Wright is set to make a third movie with Simon Pegg. Looks like I'm going to get that unofficial trilogy after all.... "The good news is the answer is: Yes. Simon and I are going to do another movie. We have ideas we're tossing around, as we always do. We just haven't decided which one it's going to be." This has to be good news all around, IMO. We will get to see what Wright can do outside of his teaming with Pegg with Them and then what sort of picture he can produce within the confines of the studio in Ant Man before making a much desired by us, third movie with Pegg. Of course before all that, we have a Grindhouse trailer of his to look forward too! source - variety, ign, cinematical
