Incredibles 2 Review: 6 Ups & 3 Downs

1. The Big Reveal Is Ridiculously Predictable

No spoilers here, but yes, Incredibles 2 has a big reveal at the end of its second act, and if you've been paying even cursory attention to what's going on prior, you'll probably figure it out ahead of time.

This is another area where it just feels like Brad Bird wasn't really trying hard enough: the way the plot is constructed and the characters are presented to the viewer ensures the big surprise is foreshadowed with a glorified neon signpost.

As such, when the moment finally happens, it prompts more of an indifferent shrug from the audience than legitimate surprise. The fact that the reveal itself isn't all that interesting, regardless of the predictability, doesn't really help either.

These issues aside, though, Incredibles 2 is a mostly remarkable film, and here are the reasons why...
