Inside Out: 22 Easter Eggs, In-Jokes And References You Need To See

15. The Dead Mouse Is Actually Remy

One of the key reasons Riley immediately falls out of love with San Francisco is because the new house's living room comes furnished with its own dead mouse. In the subsequent nightmare she has that night, the mouse looms into shot, where it becomes clear it's actually a somewhat exaggerated version of Remy, the food-loving rat from Ratatouille. Sadly Patton Oswalt didn't reprise his role. It's a pretty twisted Easter egg, taking a beloved character and turning him into nightmare fuel, although at least it's not as dark as that Nemo caviar in Ratatouille itself (no seriously, that's a thing).
