16. Background Vehicles Are Actually Based On Cars 2 Models

Here's an Easter egg you'd be easily forgiven for not spotting. Cars 2 wasn't exactly Pixar's finest hour, regarded by many as the studio's weakest film, so references to it are likely to go over the head of even the most die-hard fan. Many of the cars in background of shots are actually models from the Cars sequel, most prominently the Lemons and the smaller, micro-car model. It may seem odd that the realistic world Inside Out and the more cartoon-y Cars could have such plentiful overlap in design, but it's worth noting that many of the vehicles in the film (and Docter's earlier Up) are actually rather blocky.
