Interview With Mark Harris: Star Of Brit Film 'The Broken'

broken poster A few days ago I was able to get a sneak peak at The Broken, a new British film starring Mark Harris (Whose credits include Outside Bet, and Offender). The film is so new in fact that in order to get a glimpse at what is coming I had to visit the edit suite where they were still piecing together the cut. Check out the interview below where Mark talks about his character, the challenges of making the film and some of the challenges of life and the acting business. http://youtu.be/4s3rClhRTG8 The film sees Mark play Matt Hollis, a father and husband who is struggling to keep his family together having spent some time in prison and faced other challenges in life. A family holiday to the United States seemed the perfect thing to get back on the right track, but shortly after arriving in the US of A everything turns to hell for Matt and his family. Matt€™s wife Alison (played by Anna Nightingale) is brutally beaten by thugs who kidnap their daughter Lara (Honor Kneafsey). With his daughter missing and himself wrongfully suspected of attacking his wife Matt is a man alone trying to save his family. The footage I saw promised that the film would be gritty and real. The story is undoubtedly one that will draw comparisons to Taken, but as Mark said to me during our conversation, his character is very different to the one famously played by Liam Neeson. Whereas Bryan Mills is a man with a very special skill set which means he can easily dispatch dozens of kidnappers, extremists and maniacs without so much as breaking a sweat, that is not who Matt Hollis is. Mark€™s character Matt is an ordinary British guy without expert combat training. He€™s had to overcome challenges including being in prison for a crime he didn€™t commit, the loss of another child whilst incarcerated and almost losing his family upon release.
