Is Martial Arts Star Donnie Yen In Star Wars 8?

Reports reckon Ip Man will be one of the new films far, far away.

Is this Star Wars news day or something? What else could possibly follow stories of Darth Vader and Han Solo returning to our big screens in two separate movies? Well, let's try this on for size... New reports from Apple Daily (via IGN) are focused on Star Wars Episode VIII where it's suggest that chop-socky Hong Kong actor Donnie Yen's is going to be playing a talented, light-sabre wielding, fighting Jedi. Right now fans know about as much about the eighth Star Wars film as they do The Force Awakens, which is to say, diddly squat. Looper and Brick director Rian Johnson's behind the camera and writing the script or the film, and presumably most of the stars of Episode VII will appear (the ones that don't die, anyway!), but the Donnie Yen thing is the first big reveal. If it's actually legit, anyway. For the first time (other than Ray Park as Darth Maul) somebody who can actually fight will wield a lightsaber. Just imagine this Ip Man scene starring Yen, only with laser swords. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Z1g2mi-nE0 That same report suggests he could be filming scenes opposite Harrison Ford as early as next month, which seems a little off. So it could be that Yen is actually going to be popping up in Star Wars Anthology film Rogue One, which has been secretly filming recently? Look, either way, the important thing is that the greatest martial artist since Jackie Chan will be able to use The Force, okay? Star Wars Episode VIII is due for release on May 26, 2017. Check back in two years to see if this story was right! Is Donnie Yen a good fit for the Star Wars franchise? Should they hire more martial artists? Is Ip Man a silly name? Sound off in the comments below.
