Is Nicole Kidman Going To Play Wonder Woman's Mom?

Because Australians make the best super-parents, apparently.

The DCEU might just be about to add some serious acting clout, because, according to The Wrap, the statuesque Australian could be playing Wonder Woman's mother in the 2017 stand-alone. She's apparently in talks to play a "high-ranking Amazonian warrior" in the film, and the smart money - and indeed The Wrap's and everyone else on the Internet's - seems to suggest that points towards Diana Prince's mother, Hippolyta. It would be a casting akin to Warner Bros hiring of Russell Crowe for Jor-El in Man Of Steel (and further proof that DC's cinematic ideal for exotic parent figures seems to be Australia for some reason). If hired, she'd join Gael Gadot and Chris Pine in the cast, but she'd basically steal top billing. Her star is still bright, even if the stinging disgrace of Grace Of Monaco detracts somewhat from her bankability, but she's still a big selling face. And she has previous playing larger than life characters (she's great in Paddington for instance and under-appreciated in The Golden Compass) and regal ones and you have to count it as a smart decision if it comes off.
