The spy genre has always separated itself from the action genre with a more delicate, and discreet approach, the James Bond franchise is certainly no exception. From his earlier days, we saw the likes of the modified attache case featuring a knife for a handle along with a inconspicuous talcum powder tear gas grenade, Rosa Klebb's poisoned dagger shoe, alongside the famous garrote wire watch. While first built for discreetness and function, the gadgets get a lot more elaborate and flashy later on, Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan are known for these periods. While we as fans have always idolized, and admired Bond's impressive spy gadget arsenal, it's an interesting question to ask what would work in reality? Well, to tackle that question it's a good idea to first think about the kind of gadgets Bond has used. First you have the typical espionage spy gadgets, these mostly appear earlier on in the series. Such as hidden or remote cameras, bug sensors, or weapons disguised as household objects. However, as Bond grew as a film franchise it began to take on more and more tropes of other genres and less of the receding spy genre, leading to a new type of more technological, flashier gadgets.
