Japan Just Showed Fall Out Boy How To Do A Real Ghostbusters Theme

Why mess with something so beautiful?

It's still too soon to forgive emo rockers Fall Out Boy for what they've done in the name of the new Ghostbusters theme - stomping Ray Parker Jr's legacy into the ground in the interest of modern reinvention. They shouldn't have messed with the formula: it was unnecessary and all it looks like is revisionism for the sake of revisionism.

Luckily, the Japanese have come to the theme's rescue, as Sony Japan have decided to avoid recording (and mangling) the original, and have stuck far closer to the classic tune. Instead of asking a popular group to add their own spin, the team have instead brought in four actors and comedians, put them in proton packs and got them to sing the original with slightly different composition.

Needless to say, it absolutely mops the floor with the Fall Out boy version...

Why couldn't we have just had something similar? For that matter, why couldn't Ray Parker Jr have just re-recorded it with a little twist here and there?

Now this just feels like what we could have won. Let's hope some brave English cinemas choose to play this over the credits instead of the Fall Out Boy one.
