Jason Voorhee's returns on Valentine's weekend

The FRIDAY THE 13TH remake will be released on Friday 13th of February 2009. So says THIS article from Bloody Disgusting. As we told you recently, Marcus Nispel (TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE remake) will direct from a script written by the guys who brought us the disappointing FREDDY vs. JASON. But there's something else also brewing if you believe rumors from BD...

They say that New Line are desperate to get another Freddy Krueger/Jason Vorhee's team-up off the ground and although they haven't got a script yet (and won't for a while because of the strike) early movements have been made that could see FREDDY vs. JASON 2 go into production sometime next year. No doubt inspired by what Warner Brothers are doing with JLA, the thinking being that they don't need to wait until the new FRIDAY THE 13TH's and A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET (which has yet to be confirmed, but will happen) remakes and series' have run their course before bringing together the two horror icons back for once last duel. Four years ago FREDDY vs. JASON easily grossed over $100 million worldwide and was financially the most successful film featuring either of the horror legends. Sadly though, the film itself was less than spectacular and it's left New Line wondering over the last couple of years of how to resurrect it. Should they remake both franchises or do another Freddy/Jason team-up? Looks like they might have settled on both.
