Jay Hernandez Recruited For Suicide Squad

Will he play a prison inmate to The Joker?

Suicide Squad Jay Hernandez I remember when Jay Hernandez was best known for the TV show Hang Time, and how Hostel then seemed to be the movie that would launch his career to another level of fame and acclaim. It never really happened, but he's kept pretty busy, and I'm glad to hear that he's coming back for another big picture, taking a role in David Ayer's DC comics movie, Suicide Squad. The Wrap say they don't know for sure what part Hernandez has, but from what I understand about the project, their hunch that he might be playing a prison inmate on the same cellblock as The Joker is a good one. There was a casting document that described this character as "latin," and none of the other roles were specified as such, so it seems at least most likely. The plot of Suicide Squad seems to be about jail breaks. At first, Harley Quinn and Deadshot spend some time trying to crack into Arkham Asylum, later they're sent on another mission to Belle Reve, and things get seriously out of control. If everything goes to plan, this should be one of the most gritty, grimy comic book adaptations to date, certainly as concerns superhero movies. Suicide Squad is set for August 5th, 2016. Hernandez will be joining Will Smith as Deadpool, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Jared Leto as the Joker, with Joel Kinnaman tipped to take the role of Rick Flagg and Viola Davis still negotiating a contract to play the Squad's "handler," Amanda Waller.
