Jay Hernandez's Suicide Squad Role Is Reportedly Chato Santana, El Diablo

El Diablo is able to start fires, and is impervious to flame.

Jay Hernandez El Diablo Just this morning we learned that Jay Hernandez has a small, but instrumental role in the upcoming DC Comics movie Suicide Squad. On the casting info I had seen there was no character name, but a precise specification that the character is latino. Now filling in the blanks is Umberto Gonzalez, aka Latino Review's El Mayimbe, who is reporting as a rumour that Hernandez will be playing Chato Santana, or El Diablo. https://instagram.com/p/zTBB3njpmv/ In the comics, Santana is eventually recruited into The Suicide Squad, so his inclusion in this film might be set-up for a sequel. Congratulations to Hernandez if that is true. It's a fun role anyway, being a larger than life prison bad-guy type. He's likely to have a long time in the makeup chair getting fake tattoos painted on, and that's a bit less exciting but, really, I can think of worse jobs. If he has his comic book powers, El Diablo will be able start fires, and is impervious to flame. Is it just a coincidence that director David Ayer recently tweeted this image of a flamethrower test? https://twitter.com/DavidAyerMovies/status/568067250667663360 Suicide Squad is deep in prep and production will start next month. We can look forward to seeing what might just be the hardest, sweatiest comic book adaptation to date on August 5th, 2016.
