Jessica Alba visits The Love Guru

The Love Guru, Mike Myer's first new character since Austin Powers has found it's female lead and just like his last two "Powers" co-stars Beyonce Knowles and Heather Graham, she can't act! Her name... Jessica Alba. Also added to the cast are Verne Troyer (he played Mini-Me) and Romany Malco (that funny supporting black guy in The 40 Year Old Virgin) says Variety.

Myers plays Pitka, an American who was left at the gates of an ashram in India as a child and raised by gurus. After moving back to the U.S., he attempts to settle a rift between a hockey player (Malco) and his wife, who begins scoring with the star player of a rival team. Alba plays the hockey team owner and Troyer the team coach. Pitka's job is to check that illicit romance and reunite the couple so the star player can lead his team to the championship.
Marco Schabnel who worked second unit on the last Austin Powers is directing from a script by Myers and Graham Gondry, with a June 20th release date planned. I can't say I'm all that excited for The Love Guru. I think I would rather just have seen another Austin Powers movie than watch Myers attempt to create a new character that won't ever be as popular. Never fear though folks, if this movie bombs a Dr. Evil spin-off movie would only be a short while away.
