Jim Carrey: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

4. Lloyd Christmas - Dumb & Dumber

Dumd And Dumber Though generally the film I regard as Jim Carrey's funniest, it's safe to say that it doesn't require the restraint and nuance of the three entries that follow, and so Dumb and Dumber sits rather proudly at our #4 spot instead. Carrey is a dynamite live-wire as Lloyd Christmas, the dim-witted limo driver who travels across America to return a briefcase to a beautiful woman (Lauren Holly, Carrey's future ex-wife) he met at the airport. Teaming with the Farrelly Brothers and Jeff Daniels, this is easily the best of Carrey's outright comic roles, delivering a demented - and occasionally rather dark - portrayal of an idiotic soul who can't see a good thing even when it's waved in front of his face. After brewing for almost two decades, a sequel is finally being prepped for release next year - hilariously named Dumb & Dumber To - and it could just be the comeback Carrey needs.
