Johnny Depp & Michelle Pfeiffer in New Dark Shadows Image

Depp looks strange as the undead from Tim Burton's new Gothic horror movie, released May 11th.

A new image of Johnny Depp (yes that really is him despite looking twenty years younger) and Michelle Pfeiffer from Tim Burton's new Gothic horror movie Dark Shadows has emerged online. Italian fan site Johnny Depp Italia scanned the image from the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly that hit stands today. Released on May 11th, Dark Shadows centers on Barnabas Collins, a playboy who breaks the heart of a witch (Eva Green) in 1752, and is proof that you should never scorn a woman, she turns him into a vampire and buries him alive. He wakes in 1972 and returns to his estate tortured and searching for his long lost love. He is owner of a large estate€ but our lead character and entry vehicle into this weird world is Bella Heathcote as Victoria Winters, the young lady who becomes the Governess of the Collins household because she resemblances the vampire€™s long lost love. Michelle Pfeiffer (the matriarch of the estate in Collins€™ absence), Jackie Earle Haley (as a con artist), Chloe Moretz, Thomas McDonnell, Johnny Lee Miller and David Selby also feature. Seth Grahame-Smith wrote the final draft of the screenplay, the same guy who is currently working on a Beetlejuice sequel. Tim Burton recently spoke to MTV and talked about the film;
"It's got such a strange vibe. And it's not something that a lot of people necessarily know. You're trying to do a weird soap opera," he said, also praising the cast for rising to the challenge. "It has a weird sense of heightened melodrama. There was a generation of us who would run home from school to watch it. That's probably why we were such bad students. We should have been doing homework; we were watching 'Dark Shadows' instead. It was hard to put into words the tone it was. It had a weird seriousness, but it was funny in a way that wasn't really funny."
Dark Shadows will be released May 11th.
