9. Brand New Characters

JeffGoldblum01 Look, I love Alan Grant and Ian Malcolm, but as a true fan of both those characters, I firmly believe they've had their day with the dinosaurs. And that's basically down to the simple fact that I can't believe either Grant or Malcolm would ever go back to any of the islands for any reason at all. Not to fund research. Not to document a new species. Hell, not even to rescue a loved one (please, please, please don't make that a plot point). And though it might be nice to have the occasional reference ("Have you read Dr. Malcolm's paper on the notions of chaos theory? It's quite interesting"), it's time for a new wave of characters to face up against a whole host of snarling reptile monsters. Because ultimately, a huge part of the fun of Jurassic Park is watching the reactions of characters who have never seen a dinosaur in real life, and Grant and Malcolm are pretty much the world's leading dinosaurs experts, although that is something that occurs automatically should at least two species of dinosaur try and eat you.
