Justice League: 10 Insane Fan Theories You Need To See

Will Superman murder Alfred?

Where there are eagerly anticipated movies that bear a hefty amount of cultural, nerdy significance, there will, of course, be fan theories. Lots of them.

The online space does have its negatives, but one of the best things about it is being able to discuss our favourite games, movies and TV shows with other like-minded individuals.

The forthcoming Justice League is currently one such talking point, after its impressive showing at San Diego Comic-Con. The road to get to this movie may not have been of as high a caliber as we'd hoped, but its still among the most exciting cinematic events of the year, and has served up plenty of interesting questions about its plot.

Will any Lanterns appear? Will Darkseid show his decidedly angry face, perhaps in a post-credits scene? Will Henry Cavill's digitally-removed moustache be at all noticeable?

Okay, maybe not that last one.

Fortunately, where there are questions, there are (usually) answers, but because the movie hasn't come out yet, the only answers we have are a series of wildly wacky - but often brilliant - fan interpretations of the many clues found in trailers, images, and previous movies.

10. Flashpoint Has Already Happened

Batman v Superman's Knightmare sequence was a confusing one, with the movie never really explaining if it was a dream, a look into the future, or something else entirely.

Luckily, Reddit user TheyveTakenMyWheezy (and the folks commenting on his/her post) feels confident they can explain parts of it by bringing in Flashpoint, a comic-book arc featuring multiple timelines.

The idea is that Justice League will open with a scene showing our heroes (who haven't yet come together to form a team) getting their asses kicked, individually, by Darkseid, Steppenwolf and the Parademons, rendering them all defeated - save for Superman.

This would then lead into the Knightmare sequence; maybe Lois is killed by Darkseid and Supes gets really, really mad, causing him to take over the world.

This results in Batman sending The Flash back in time to warn past Bruce that Lois is the key, which inspires Bruce to unite the League, stop Darkseid, and save her. So, when Darkseid, Steppenwolf and the Parademons attack this time, our heroes are better equipped to fight them, because they're now working together.

The current DCEU timeline is a new timeline, after the last one was changed by The Flash being sent back in time (which we saw in Batman v Superman). Bruce dreams of the Parademons because he's met them before, in the original timeline.

This means the Knightmare sequence is a suppressed memory of something that happened to Bruce in an alternate timeline, and the Justice League movie we'll get to see (where, presumably, our heroes win) is the current, new timeline. Phew. Got all that?

This theory was written before the announcement of the Flashpoint movie at Comic-Con, so it's unlikely a Flashpoint-esque storyline would be used in Justice League, but it's a great idea nonetheless.
