That's a bloody clever move by Warner Bros - playing with the audience's expectations after seeming to reveal a key sequence in the film. It's almost... playful.

Weirdly, the shot is edited to suggest she's looking to where the ring was, but it's the other hand. In fact, on reflection, she's affectionately touching the space Clark would have been lying.

Is this another one of those confusing dreams that aren't actually dreams (like Bruce Wayne's in Batman v Superman) - with Superman using a vision to tell her that he saw her wearing the ring. Either way, there's no getting round Lois' profound sadness, and the suggested passing of time...
