Kate Beckinsale done with UNDERWORLD series

Kate Beckinsale initially turned down the opportunity to return for an UNDERWORLD: RISE OF THE LYCANS, meaning fellow Brit actress Rhona Mitra was quickly hired to step in for the prequel. Now Beckinsale tells Coming Soon that she is done with the franchise and never wants to play the character again, telling the site she believes the series will continue without her.

"I think they're still going, they probably will. I'm not sure I will," she told us. "I feel like I've played that character enough times that I don't think I'd be excited to play the same character again. It's a weird experience. I've never done that before, you're playing the same character in two movies, and after two, I feel like I'm kind of done with that."
The movie, opening January 23rd 2009 will show just whether the franchise can continue without her and her husband director Len Wiseman, who also bailed on this film. Wiseman's great friend and frequent production designer Patrick Tatopoulos makes his directorial debut.
