Kate Bosworth decides to die as Veronika

Movie follows Bosworth as she attempts to commit suicide, only to half succeed as she wakes up a weakened heart defect. Doctors say she will die in a matter of days but of course she has now fallen in love and wants to live!

Kate Bosworth that has convinced me that she's anything more than an actress with a pretty face. I was pretty outraged with her performance in Superman Returns where she was easily the biggest mis-cast, in a film that made pretty much every casting decision wrong. You know, this is the actress that headlined movies such as Win a Date With Todd Hamilton and Blue Crush, how did she suddenly get roles in big productions like Superman? Did Kevin Spacey have something to do with it, I mean after all they have done two movies together in the past and have one more forthcoming in 21, did he convince Bryan Singer she could do the job? Anyway, onto today's news. The Hollywood Reporter say that Bosworth has signed up for the lead role in the Emily Young's feature adaptation of Paulo Coehla's novel Veronika Decides to Die. In the movie, Veronika wakes up in a mental home after attempting to kill herself, only to find out she has only half succeeded. Her attempted suicide has left her with a weakened heart and the doctors tell her she only has days left to life. The movie chronicles her new found passion for life as she falls in love and we follow her desperate struggle for survival. The film is being setup at Das Films as it's their first ever movie with Palm Star Entertainment and Muse Films also on board. The book has sold 9 million copies worldwide, so it should have a steady fanbase going into it. Is Bosworth strong enough to lead the movie? Although this isn't as big a production as the summer blockbuster Superman Returns, this movie is a huge test for the actress and it should be real interesting to see how she handles it.
