Katzenberg talks Dreamworks Animation Sequel Bonanza

No doubt for the past two years you have been lying awake at night wondering ...if only Dreamworks Animation would announce they were planning on making 5, count 'em, 5 more Kung Fu Panda movies, 2 more entries in the How to Train Your Dragon series and that they would see the Madagascars out to 4. Well it looks like you're in luck because that's exactly what Head honcho Jeffrey Katzenberg has been saying in an interview with Empire; He says;
"So today I can tell you pretty succinctly where Madagascar goes. Ultimately they will come back to New York, and they will come to terms with that, which they will do in this next chapter. Because of the way that movie concludes there€™s probably one more for them€"

and adds;
€Kung Fu Panda actually has 6 chapters to it, and we€™ve mapped that out over the years. How to Train Your Dragon is at least three: maybe more, but we know there are a least three chapters to that story. There are actually 8 books."

The real shocker here is number of Panda installments. Does the story of the lazy Jack Black character really have those legs? I can give you $630 million worldwide reasons why it might and whether it be a show of confidence in the brand, or cynicism, or both we€™ll see if word on that one changes when the sequel makes its bow in May next year.

Best of this bunch was How to train Your Dragon and I would welcome another installment in this series. It gave us something a little different, and in this humble fellows opinion represents the best Dreamworks Animation movie to date. As long they can keep the heart and the sense of adventure then I€™m game for a couple more.
