Make it happen, Netflix!

With Avengers: Infinity War (and its untitled sequel) set to irrevocably shake-up the Marvel Cinematic Universe, talk is swirling as to what the future will look like.

There's constant chatter about which properties Marvel might make next, but one of the most intriguing prospects is a movie or TV show based on Blade.

Marvel regained the rights to Blade and Ghost Rider back in 2013, and while the latter was used in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4, there's been little word on the former, until now. Speaking to Arrow in the Head, Marvel chief Kevin Feige offered an update on the Daystalker:

“We think it would be cool. Someday. My tenure at Marvel started 17 years ago, and there were two things that sort of launched the modern era. One was X-Men, which was the first thing that people said, “Oh, there’s life here.” But a few years before that, there was Blade. A character nobody had heard of at all, had only appeared in a few issues of Tomb of Dracula or something, turned into a big franchise.
"That was always a great lesson for me, where you go, “It doesn’t matter how well known the character is, it matters how cool the movie is.” Which, many years later, would be the reason we do Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange. I think Blade is a legacy character now, and I think it would be fun to do something with him one day.”

It's not confirmation that a Blade project is coming, but Feige is clearly very open to the idea, and has a lot of respect for the character.

The Wesley Snipes-starring Blade trilogy came to an end in 2004 with the disappointing Blade: Trinity, and was followed by an ill-fated TV series on Spike. A movie would mark a darker, more adult turn for the MCU, which would be interesting, but a Netflix series, similar to what they're doing with The Punisher, could be a perfect fit.
