King Kong Vs. Godzilla: 10 Reasons You Should Be Excited

9. A New Kong

Upon hearing that Godzilla and King Kong will be facing off, there will undoubtedly be questions of how such a match up could even be possible given the enormous size difference between the two. After all, Godzilla at his smallest still towers over King Kong, so how could such a size disparity make for a satisfying fight? Well, the simple fact is that King Kong does have to be sized up in order to stand toe-to-toe with Godzilla, which is exactly what Toho did to Kong for King Kong vs. Godzilla, and what WB and Legendary will also have to do for their version. This means that the upcoming Kong standalone film Kong: Skull Island will probably not be the original Kong who carried around Ann Darrow, fought dinosaurs, and climbed the Empire State Building. In order to accommodate the Legendary Godzilla, who is the largest version of the character to date, this Kong will have to be much larger and more powerful. How they will go about doing this is anybody€™s guess, though there are many ideas. Perhaps Kong: Skull Island will have more than one member of Kong€™s species, each of varying size according to their age. Maybe Kong will originally be 50ft tall, then enlarged through nuclear fallout and radiation, connecting Kong€™s origin to Godzilla€™s radioactive roots. There are many creative ways to allow Kong to stand a chance against Godzilla. So don€™t expect your grandfather€™s King Kong in the upcoming film. While he may not start this way, he will end up being a far larger and more powerful version of the character than any previous version has been. Who knows what tricks the 80 year old gorilla will pull out of his hairy sleeve in future films.
