If you weren't aware that Kong: Skull Island was another connection in the Monsterverse, the opening credits have a good few hints in there.

First off, the footage of the nuclear "tests" that were actually designed to kill Godzilla is the same footage included in the 2014 reboot.

And at one point in the densely populated opening, there's a sketch of a turtle skeleton along with the word 'MUTO - Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism' alongside it. That term was of course coined for Gareth Edwards movie as a catch all for the monsters introduced.

The skeleton probably belongs to Gamera from 1965 Japanese monster movie Gamera: The Giant Monster.
