It's the day everyone's been eagerly awaiting: the 10-years-in-the-making musical sequel Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again is finally in cinemas worldwide.

Though even unapologetic fans of the 2008 original probably had middling expectations for this belated follow-up, the sequel has scored shockingly positive reviews so far - much higher than the original's mixed critical response - and you know what? Rightly so.

This is not a movie that claims to be clever or delivering much of an insight into the human condition: it's just fun, frothy escapism and a damn fun two time at that.

The fact that a Mamma Mia sequel is better than a Jurassic World one is, honestly, astonishing...
