Man Of Steel: 12 Questions Left By The Stupidest Superman Ever

12. If Kryptonian Soldiers Are Genetically Engineered Why Aren't They All Giants?

Zod The beauty of genetic engineering is that you can choose the best features of any gene pool and transfer them to the embryos that you've chosen for each role in society. As established in the rather hokey plot exposition, Krypton had developed population control and grew its own babies with roles in mind €“ soldier, leader, worker, etc €“ and presumably they were genetically prefigured to fit those roles. Otherwise, you'd end up in a situation where lunk-headed soldier types were randomly chosen as leaders or scientists, leading to the kind of hilarious and sexy consequences that would make a fine Adam Sandler or Eddie Murphy film. Seriously, if you have the power to engineer a single soldier who stands over 7 foot tall, with the physique of a Greek god, why wouldn't you make all of them look like that? That giant can't have been a fortuitous genetic accident - because he was cooked up in a petri dish - so you'd expect the Kryptonian scientists to concentrate on that model for super soldiers across the board, to minimise the opportunity for defeat.
